Angelfish Privacy Policy
Angelfish is designed to be the most secure and private personal finance app available. We live and breath the fact that your personal financial data is private and personal to you, and
you should be able to manage your finances without anyone else being able to access them without your explicit permission.
With that in mind, we do collect some information when using our website and app, to help us track usage and improve the product for our users. Below is a complete list of what we track
and where we send it so you can make an informed decision on using Angelfish.
The Website
Our website collects anonymous usage data so we can track the performance of our site and marketing campaigns to attract more users:
- We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data for the website.
- We use Formspree to submit any forms on our site. If the form asks for personal information such as email or name, it will be sent to Formspree when you submit the form.
- We use Mailchimp to collect any signup and subscription emails so we can send you newsletters. You can easily unsubscribe from our mailing lists at any time using
an unsubscribe link at the bottom of all marketing emails.
You can see any personal information we collect on any form you submit on our website. Typically this is only email, and sometimes your name, so we can add you to our mailing list to send newsletters via Mailchimp.
The App
For a full description of how the Angelfish app stores your data, you can read our documentation on Security and Privacy. In addition we also collect some data from our users to help them
manage their accounts and also allow us to track product usage to help us improve the product over time:
- We use Segment to push analytics data to MixPanel so we can track app usage. No financial data is ever sent to our analytics services.
- We use MixPanel to analyse usage data from our app users and get insights we need to help improve the app for our users.
For our app analytics data, we only collect usage data such as “user_login”, “user_created_account” and other events to help us understand how users are using the app. The events are linked together using your unique user ID, which is a random
string ID. This helps us group together user sessions and understand how popular features are among our users. We may also store some personal information such as your name and email to help understand which users are most active on the app,
but in NO EVENT will we ever send any of your financial or household data to our analytics service. This means, we may be able to see how many accounts you created in Angelfish, but we will never be able to see what the accounts are, their
balances or transaction data. These are all stored securely, and seperately on your local computer, as described in our Security and Privacy documentation.
Logs
The Cloud service will sometimes collect logs, traces and metrics when you use the Cloud APIs to syncronise your data in Angelfish. This helps our developers troubleshoot errors on our Cloud service when they occur and ensure we’re able to provide
a reliable service to our users. While logs and traces may sometimes contain your unique user ID (which is a random string ID) to help us track down issues for a particular user if they raise a support issue, we will never store personally identifiable
information in our logs, and especially do not log or store any of your financial data sent via API requests. At most the logs and traces allow us to track down issues and monitor performance, and are not useful to gaining any other information into
a user’s data or account.
All logs, traces and metrics are collected and stored securely on Google Cloud’s Operation Suite and only available to our developers for troubleshooting.
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need to. This time period may depend on what we are using your information for, in accordance with this privacy policy. For example, if you have provided us with personal information as part of
creating an account with us, we may retain this information for the duration your account exists on our system. If your personal information is no longer required for this purpose, we will delete it or make it anonymous by removing all details that
identify you.
However, if necessary, we may retain your personal information for our compliance with a legal, accounting, or reporting obligation or for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific, or historical research purposes or statistical purposes.
Children’s Privacy
We do not aim any of our products or services directly at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information about children under 13.
Notification of Data Breaches
We will comply with laws applicable to us in respect of any data breach.
Right To Request Your Data And Remove
As compliant with local laws, you can contact us to request any data we collect about you, and have that data removed if requested. Please note if you have an active account with Angelfish, we may not be able to remove all your data until you
cancel your account.
